Calling all budding photographers!

Our annual calendar competition is now open and the theme this year is 'Galson’s heritage'.

2024 marks 100 years since the resettlement of the village and we are looking for amateur photographers, of all ages, to come up with photos reflecting the area’s heritage, whether that is history and genealogy, Gaelic language, music and dance, traditional skills, or food and drink.

Jemma MacVicar, Executive Manager, Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn, commented: “This is a special year for Galson and we hope that the centenary will inspire budding photographers to get out and about round the estate, taking snaps of things which are important to, and reflect Galson’s heritage – the theme is up to interpretation so we’d love to see people be as creative as possible.”

The competition has two categories – Adult and Junior – and the two overall winners will win photography vouchers, as well as being featured within the calendar. Photos must be taken within the Galson Estate, which stretches from Upper Barvas to Port of Ness. The deadline for entries is Monday 23rd August.
